Contributions on Lindane Degradation by Microcystis aeruginosa PCC 7806

چکیده
Cyanobacteria are able to tolerate, and even metabolize, moderate doses of organochlorine pesticides, such as lindane (γ-hexachlorocyclohexane), one the most persistent widely used in recent decades. Previous work showed that Microcystis aeruginosa PCC 7806 degrades that, presence pesticide, microcystin synthesis is enhanced. In this work, using silico approaches, we have identified M. putative homologues lin genes, involved degradation Sphingobium japonicum UT26S. Real-time RT-PCR assays linC gene was induced 7 mg/L lindane. Additionally, prxA, encoding a peroxiredoxin, oxidative stress response, also when present. Taking into account these results, may degrade through metabolic pathway involving 2,5-dichloro-2,5-cyclohexadiene-1,4-diol dehydrogenase encoded by homologue. However, low similarity other potential suggest existence an alternative different heterotrophic microorganisms S. japonicum.

Cell walls of Microcystis sp. PCC 7806 were purified from cell homogenates by sucrose density centrifugation and Triton X-100 extraction. The outer membrane contained carotenoids, two major peptidoglycan-associated proteins (Mr 49,000 and 52,000), and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) as indicated by the presence of 3-hydroxy fatty acids (3-OH-14:0, 3-OH-16:0, 3-OH-18:0), 4-oxo-18:0 fatty acid, and GlcN...
متن کاملCyanopeptolins, new depsipeptides from the cyanobacterium Microcystis sp. PCC 7806.
Four depsipeptides (peptide lactones), called cyanopeptolins A, B, C and D, have been isolated from the cyanobacterium Microcystis sp. PCC 7806. They possess identical structures consisting of cyclic L-glutamic acid-gamma-aldehyde, L-leucine, N-methyl-phenylalanine, L-valine, L-threonine, L-aspartic acid, hexanoic acid and a variable basic amino acid. This variable amino acid can be L-arginine ...
متن کاملCadmium Toxicity to Microcystis aeruginosa PCC 7806 and Its Microcystin-Lacking Mutant
The adverse effects of microcystin (MC) produced by cyanobacteria have drawn considerable attention from the public. Yet it remains unclear whether MC confers any benefits to the cyanobacteria themselves. One suggested function of MC is complexation, which may influence the bioaccumulation and toxicity of trace metals. To test this hypothesis, we examined Cd toxicity to wild-type Microcystis ae...
متن کاملFunctional analysis of PilT from the toxic cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa PCC 7806.
The evolution of the microcystin toxin gene cluster in phylogenetically distant cyanobacteria has been attributed to recombination, inactivation, and deletion events, although gene transfer may also be involved. Since the microcystin-producing Microcystis aeruginosa PCC 7806 is naturally transformable, we have initiated the characterization of its type IV pilus system, involved in DNA uptake in...
متن کاملNtcA from Microcystis aeruginosa PCC 7806 is autoregulatory and binds to the microcystin promoter.
NtcA is a transcription factor that has been found in a diverse range of cyanobacteria. This nitrogen-controlled factor was focused on as a key component in the yet-to-be-deciphered regulatory network controlling microcystin production. Adaptor-mediated PCR was utilized to isolate the ntcA gene from Microcystis aeruginosa PCC 7806. This gene was cloned, and the recombinant (His-tagged) protein ...
